Q. Can you tell me exactly when the Peak camp will be? A. The dates for the Peak 2010 camp are 24th July – 31st July 2010. Q. Is it true the Peak 2010 camp will be held in Chatsworth Park? A. Yes this is true – with the permission of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire the Peak 2010 camp will be held within the estate parkland - starting at the Golden Gates entrance and stretching for over half a mile towards the house. Q. I have heard that the camp is already full – Is this true? A. No this is not true – The Online booking system is open to register groups interest in attending actual booking starts in September for Derbyshire based groups and in October for other UK and International groups. Q. Who is the camp for? A. The Peak 2010 International camp is for Scouts and guides 10 -14 but young people up to 16 and including 16 year olds will be able to participate if they pay the full camp fee. Q. How much is the full camp fee for young people camping this time? A. The full fee for campers taking part in the activities on offer is £155. Q. Could you please tell us “What does the fee cover?” A. The Peak 2010 fee covers all the on site and off site activities we have planned, the on site entertainment and camping. It does not include your food, transport to and from the camp and any camping equipment. Q. Can we bring our own small electric generator to camp as we use a large fridge and electric ovens. A. Sorry but No! We do not allow any generators other than the very large ones required for the camp infrastructure. Q. Do I have to register on line? Why can’t we register by filling in a form and posting it? A. You can! We have opted for On line booking for peak2010 to assist the administration team as this will lead to a lot less data entry for the team but we still accept postal applications – this is not and will not be a problem if you wish to fill in the forms by hand and post them to us. Q. Do we have to bring our own toilets to camp? A. No – Adequate toilet facilities are provided. For those groups wishing to bring toilet tents for overnight /emergency use them full disposal facilities will be available and you will be informed later exactly what the procedure is for disposal. Q. My wife and I are both leaders and hope to attend camp with our group /unit?. Will it be possible to bring along our younger children to camp with us?. A. There will be the opportunity to bring them along to the camp – dependant children will have to be entered onto the application forms. There will be a small fee for these children and this detail will be included in the booking form process. Q. I have applied for a staff position and my wife will also be at camp with her group. Can I camp with my wife on her sub-camp even though I am on staff? A. Yes you can – On the booking form for the campers they can enter staff members that will be camping with the group /unit and likewise you as a staff member will be able to indicate that you wish to camp with your wife’s group. Q. We are a very small scout group – can we join with another group to get additional staff support as otherwise we cannot support the scouts with the number of leaders we have available? A. If you tell us of this requirement when you book we should be able to make some arrangements for you – otherwise try contacting some of the other scout groups in your area to see if they are coming / would like to come and possibly join in with them. Q. Why is the fee so high this time? A. The fee is £155.00 to cover all the many activities that we are putting on and to cover the cost of the camp infrastructure. The camp has to be self financing and at the end of the last camp in 2005 we were asked by leaders and campers if we could provide more on site but particularly offsite activities for the Peak 2010 camp. We have planned and organised this but as well as general inflation (increases of 20% to 37% over 2005 prices) we will have far more transport requirements to move people to and from these requested and planned off site activities. The camp budget and hence fees reflect these costs. Q. Are there going to be any shower facilities on site for campers and staff? A. We have made provision for shower facilities to be available at Peak 2010 for campers, leaders and staff. There will be a separate male and female block which will be located at the Golden Gates end of the site adjacent to the end of Peak Way. |
