What is Peak 2010?

It is an opportunity for members of Scouting & Guiding in Derbyshire, together with their invited friends from Scouting & Guiding in other parts of the UK and overseas to experience an international camp.

The camp theme is “One World – Our World”

Bookings will be dealt with on a first come first served basis, giving equal places to both Scouts and Guides.

The camp management team looks forward to welcoming groups at Peak 2010.

The Chatsworth Bursary Fund for Derbyshire Guides and Scouts

Who is eligible?

In cases of genuine financial hardship where a Guide or Scout aged 10 – 16 (paying the full camp fee) would normally be prevented from taking part in Peak 2010 the Group Leader can apply for a bursary for the young person.

How much funding is available?

Every application will be considered. The grants awarded are at the discretion of the Guide and Scout County Commissioners.

How to apply:

The group leader should request an application form by emailing Camper Administration noting the subject “bursary request”.

Completed application forms should be returned to:

Mrs Elaine Wright,
Peak 2010
PO Box 7762
Derby
DE1 0SG

by 31st March 2010 at the latest.

All applications will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

31st
March
2010

Deadline for receipt of the balance of the camp payment, camp wear order forms and nominal roll.

Activity forms, Health forms, car park passes and other information will be available after the receipt of the final payment.

Who can attend?

The camp activities are organised for members between the ages of 10 and 16.  The activity programme will be exciting, varied  and full of fun; from the arts and crafts to adventurous activities and will include environmental and conversation projects.  For more information go to the Activities pages on the Peak 2010 website (www.peak2010.org).

The number of leaders accompanying groups will be in accordance with Associations’ Guidelines.  However, as the maximum number of campers (staff and participants) is 6,000 groups from Derbyshire and the UK with a ratio in excess of 1 leader to 5 Scouts/Guides will need to explain this at the time of booking and will require the permission of the camp management team.
Ahead of bookings opening, now is the time to consider how to avoid or overcome the ratio problem and the following suggestions are made:

  • a small group joins with another group in the District/Division/County
  • lessen the number of adult leaders by persuading some leaders to attend as day staff

The ratio of 1:5 will also apply to overseas groups unless their national regulations state otherwise.

How Much?

The camp fee is:

  UK International
Campers £155 £205
Leaders £30 £85

What does the fee include?

UK Groups

The Peak 2010 fee covers all the on site and off site activities we have planned, the on site entertainment and camping. It does not include your food, transport to and from the camp and any camping equipment.

International Groups

The fee for International groups includes all the on-site and off-site activities we have planned, the on site entertainment and camping. The fee also includes food and equipment whilst at camp. Travel to, from and within the UK is not included.

GROCERY ONLINE ORDERING
Sainsbury’s
- the convenience of fresh food daily on site

http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/index.jsp

  1. Daily deliveries on the 7 days from Saturday 20th July to Friday 27th July from full range of Sainsbury’s online grocery product range using their web site standard grocery online ordering procedures.
  2. Orders should be placed on line with Sainsbury’s no later than Sunday 14th July.
  3. It will be possible to amend orders up to the day before delivery - in line with Sainsbury’s standard timetable - and there will be a dedicated internet point at Peak for this.
  4. Prices will be as indicated on the Sainsbury’s web site. Deliveries will need to be collected from Sainsbury’s vehicle near the Virtual Supermarket tent adjacent to the Staff Bar at the appointed time by a responsible person from each unit so that any shortages or substitutions can be sorted out directly there and then with Sainsbury’s!
  5. To consolidate delivery it is probable that there will be a single morning delivery time slot even though the web site may show more.  ( This consolidation is to ensure an orderly flow of traffic on site) If demand is too great for one delivery time there may be others.
  6. Each unit placing orders with Sainsbury’s will need to open their own account with Sainsbury’s specifically for use at “Peak 2010”.  Details of particulars to be included to ensure that your orders are properly identified as part of this arrangement will be provided to those who have emailed an “expression of interest” –see below.( If you have not used this type of on line grocery service before it may be worthwhile to try it out with Sainsbury’s for yourself well before Peak so that you are comfortable with how it works)
  7. Payment by credit/debit card in the usual way via the Sainsbury’s web site.
  8. Payment will not be charged to the card until day of delivery.
  9. Sainsbury’s accept a wide variety of credit and debit cards including some “pre loaded” visa and master cards – however, if you do not have suitable payment card arrangements set up already this is something that should be looked into well in advance as these things can take longer than expected.   Un-vetted suppliers of pre loaded cash cards include Travelex, Caxton Global travel card, O2 Load and Go ( O2 customers only )

NB deliveries ordered as part of this scheme will be the only ones allowed to deliver onsite at Peak. Please do not make other arrangements with internet suppliers to deliver to Peak car parks or other Chatsworth locations.

NOTE ON USE OF DEBIT/CREDIT CARDS   Our understanding is that there is no Guiding/Scouting overriding specific ruling on the use of personal credit and debit cards for purchases such as this. Rather, the normal Scouting/Guiding principles of financial management apply – including avoiding personal bank accounts to receive funds. If adult leaders choose to use personal credit/debit cards for camp expenditure and subsequently reclaim such expenditure from Group funds they would be well advised to ensure in advance that reimbursement is approved by their Scout Group Executive Committee or the Guide District Commissioner.

Time table
